Privacy and cookies

Last updated 7 October 2026.

Your image never leaves your device. It is opened and processed by your own browser, so we cannot receive it, store it, or see it — there is no upload, and no server of ours is involved in the conversion at all.

Google Analytics runs only if you allow it. It sets cookies and sends information about your visit to Google. If you decline, nothing is measured and the tool works exactly the same.

Your image

Everything the tool does happens inside your browser. The file you drop in is read locally, the background is removed on your own machine, and the transparent PNG is produced and saved locally. Nothing is transmitted anywhere at any point.

This is not a promise we ask you to take on trust. You can verify it: load the page, turn off your network connection, and use the tool. It still works, which it could not do if your image were being sent anywhere.

Because of that, we have no image data to lose, to leak, or to hand to anyone.

Analytics

If you accept the consent notice, we use Google Analytics 4 to understand how the page is found and used — how many people visit, roughly where from, and which parts of the page are useful. That is the whole purpose. We do not use it for advertising, we do not build profiles, and we do not sell anything to anyone.

Our legal basis is your consent, which you give or refuse on the notice, and which you can withdraw at any time using Cookie settings in the footer of the tool. Withdrawing takes effect immediately and reloads the page so that nothing continues to be measured.

Staying anonymous is a choice with no downside here: declining analytics does not restrict the tool in any way, and there is no account to lose.

Cookies that analytics sets

These are set by Google only after you consent. Before that, this site sets no cookies at all.

CookiePurposeLifetime
_ga Tells Google that two visits come from the same browser, using a randomly generated number. It contains no personal information. 2 years
_ga_<property> Keeps the state of your session for this particular analytics property. 2 years

One thing stored on your device that is not a cookie

Your answer to the consent notice is saved in your browser's local storage, so that the notice does not appear on every visit. It records only whether you said yes or no, and when. It is not sent anywhere, and clearing your browser data removes it — after which the notice appears again.

Google, and where your data goes

Analytics data is processed by Google. Google acts as our processor for this, and the data is handled under Google's own terms and privacy policy. As with most analytics and cloud services, data may be processed outside the UK and the European Economic Area, under the transfer safeguards Google has in place. We do not control Google's own use of data beyond what its terms provide.

We have set analytics to anonymise IP addresses, and event data is retained in Google Analytics for a maximum of 14 months, after which it is deleted.

What we do not do

Your rights

Where we hold any personal data about you at all — which, in practice, is limited to analytics data if you consented to it — you have the right to ask for a copy of it, to have it corrected or erased, to object to or restrict its processing, and to receive it in a portable format. You can withdraw your consent at any time.

To make any of these requests, contact us at the address below. If you are in the UK and are unhappy with how we have handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office. If you are in the European Union, you can complain to the data protection authority in your own country.

Who is responsible for your data

The data controller for this website is Zaantu Technologies. You can reach us about anything on this page — or about privacy in general — at privacy@removepngbackground.com.

Changes to this page

If what this site does with data changes, this page changes with it, and the date at the top changes. If the change affects what you previously agreed to, the consent notice is shown again rather than your old answer being carried forward.
